Outreach in Jamaica

Hey Guys,

Here are some pics from our outreach days in Jamaica. We did a TON of painting and worked did morning devotions in the schools and went to an orphanage. While painting we painted a church, a school and in another school the bars around all the classrooms. It took FOREVER!!! But we finished! I had a lot of fun working with the kids in school. One day we one school had a girls day and I made bookmarks with the girls from the Grade 3 class. It was a lot of fun. They were singing with their teacher as I was getting set up and it was soooooo cute cuz they wer totally dancing and whatnot. Anyways, someone needs this computer, so I hope you enjoy the pics!

Montego Bay

Hey Guys,

So guess what? We went to Montego Bay and I was in the Jamaican bobsledding team's bobsled! You know, from the movie Cool Runnings? I'm with Johanna in the picture, they have it in a restaurant with the movie playing constantly and all types of souvenirs. There is also a picture of us girls in the craft market where I bought a cool tortoise shell ring which now everyone is buying! They are really cool. In guatemala I loved the coconut shell rings, but here I love the turtle shell rings. They are hard to find though because supposedly they are not making them anymore.

There is a pic of my sis and I hanging from the almond tree (I belive) swings as well as a picture of us girls when we went on our girls nite out, but we actually had Shane with us cuz we weren't allowed to go without a guy. Turns out it's a good thing we had him cuz he is from Jamaica and showed us around and took us to Doctors Cave which is a beautiful place on the beach. Then we took us to find ice cream, pine apple and chocolate!

Well, take care!

Jamaica Week #1

Hey guys,

Well, so much has happened this week it's crazy. I have a picture of Julianna and I at 4 am in the airport with our Sunglasses last Sunday. We have been very busy with school and work duties etc. I've been painting the front gate for my work duty. It's kinda fun, but the cars that drive by are kinda crazy. Actually people drive on the opposite side the road and have their steering wheels on the opposite side too like in Europe.

The first night while we were eating dinner in the kitchen I thought I felt something on my foot and I looked and saw this big grey thing. I thought it was sock crap, but then realized it was a gekko. How cool! We have them all over the place.

I have a couple pictures here from the beach in front of our base. The YWAM base where we are staying is located near Montego Bay and is on a hill overlooking the bay. It is beautiful. So one day our small group walked down to see the beach and there are some pictures Nasma and me and of me and the other girls from my group Jayna and Lanaray. We also found some starfish and picked them up. They were pretty cool. Then there is a picture of the view from the base. It is truly beautiful. We are really lucky because the base is on a yard that used to be a plantation and then previously Christ for the Nations so it is really large and there is a pool! I haven't really been able to enjoy the pool all that much yet because I've been really busy in the afternoons. Oh well, still 3 more weeks here!

Orientation in Toronto Jan 22-Feb 3

Hey Guys,

Well, I'm off travelling again so I hope you keep checking my blog because I will be trying to keep it updated with pictures and whatnot. This year I am studying at a Discipleship Training School called Youth With a Mission. We are at the end of our orientation time in TO and here are a few pics to show our team and some of the stuff we've been up to. There is a picture of our entire group and yes, some of them are a little crazy, but it's good times. We are all so different and unique it leads to many interesting experiences.

There is also a picture of 2 of my leaders and me in the bus. The one on the left is my one on one leader which means we hang out each week and catch up with eachother about what's going on in our lives. She is from Barbados and her name is Nasma. I can't wait to chill with her in her homeland! Joan is our School leader and she is from Jamaica but now lives in Canada.

The guy sitting with me on the couch is Steve and he is our male leader. We only have 4 guy students so Steve is our lone male staff.

Saturday night Steve, Suang Il from South Korea and Anna from Sweden went to play pool. It was Anna's first time playing pool and she got her first ever shot in! We actually lost, but it was a good time.

So things are going well. We leave for Jamaica really early Sunday morning and should be arriving around 3:30 pm. Please pray that we arrive safely and all our luggage with us.

Take care guys! Talk with you soon!
